Garment Measurement Shrinkage Assessment. Garment Apparel
Garment Measurement Shrinkage Assessment.
Garment Apparel
Principle: The
standard for Fabric Shrinkage is 3 home washes for testing lab. The standard
for patterns is RINSE ‘D’ or HEAVY ‘H’ finish.
To capture the
variances in shrinkage of developmental finishes Product Development identifies
the reference fabric to be used for each new development for the 1st and/maybe 2nd
fit session.
1st and 2nd fit session: to be done with reference fabric and heavy or
rinse finish.
If
developmental yardage is available in time to create patterns for the 1st fit session, this yardage will be used.
If available 2nd fit developments will be made in development yardage with
heavy or rinse finish.
At 3rd fit
session, development yardage and Heavy or Rinse finish is used.
At 3rd fit session stage, for high stretch, samples will be made
using development yardage to validate the fit.
garment measurements
will be performed before wash, before press, after press and after 24hrs.
The pattern
maker checks patterns and adapt if needed (stretch fabric/pattern behavior).
For the launch
of Development Samples on 10% and 15% shrinkage, the Product Department will
share measurements of garment with contractors.
Manufacturing Garment Development Samples:
The supplier
provides before-wash and after wash measurements to the (garment) Product Development
Department
In the case of
stretch fabrics the required measurements are:
· Before wash
· Before press
· After press
· After 24hrs
when required by Fit department.(garment)
In case of
high shrinkage stretch fabric, the Product Development Department has created 2
extra grade rule tables to capture the variances which can be expected in
stretch fabrics from 8% to 15%. Each product will then have a grading chart,
shrinkage chart and measurement chart.
In total,
there will be 4 new grade rule tables; 10% and 15% for both tops and bottoms.
To ensure
the complete information is available, the Product Development Department will
also create a shrinkage chart for the tops, only for high shrinkage stretch at
10% and 15% as well as for the bottoms.
