Garment Measurement Shrinkage Assessment. Garment   Apparel Principle: The standard for Fabric Shrinkage is 3 home washes for testing lab. The standard for patterns is RINSE ‘D’ or HEAVY ‘H’ finish. To capture the variances in shrinkage of developmental finishes Product Development identifies the reference fabric to be used for each new development for the 1 st and/maybe 2 nd fit session. 1st and 2 nd fit session: to be done with reference fabric and heavy or rinse finish. If developmental yardage is available in time to create patterns for the 1 st fit session, this yardage will be used. If available 2 nd fit developments will be made in development yardage with heavy or rinse finish. At 3rd fit session, development yardage and Heavy or Rinse finish is used.
